Pontiac is transforming its image for 2007 with a new lineup of performance-oriented vehicles. Since the introduction of the Pontiac car in 1926, the brand has been building a reputation of making affordable, classy sedans. This year, Pontiac is hoping to differentiate itself from the GM lines by stressing their heritage of producing comfortable vehicles with high-end performance.
Their G line of vehicles is designed to reach this goal. The new G5 sedan replaces the popular Sunbird / Sunfire compact. It's still too early to predict whether the G5 will have as much success as the sporty Sunfire, which was popular with the younger generations.
The classier and sportier G6 is the midsized version, available in three styles: Coupe, Sedan or the hard-top convertible. The G6 was a huge success when it arrived in 2005, falling just short of being included in the 10 best-selling cars. Another one of Pontiac's newest vehicles is the sporty Solstice, whose turbo model can pump out a mighty 260 horsepower - it's this horsepower and sporty styling of the Solstice that has rejuvenated Pontiac's image. The Grand Prix is still alive and kicking, now serving as the largest luxury sedan in the Pontiac lineup. However, a new vehicle is currently on the drawing board to replace the Grand Prix in 2008 / 2009: the new G8.
The Pontiac G8 is a pure performance car to say the least. It's a rear-wheel drive sedan for those power-hungry drivers. With an optional 362-horsepower V8 engine, the G8 Sedan takes performance to a whole new level.
The G8 has an aggressive and muscular design, making it comparable to the Dodge Charger. With stock 18-inch alloy wheels, front hood scoops and dual chrome exhaust, this car not only wants attention - it demands it. It comes with a standard 261horsepower V6 engine featuring Active Fuel Management system, or you can upgrade to the more powerful V8. Each V8 comes with a standard six-speed automatic transmission.
This car doesn't fall short on technology. It includes a booming 7-speaker audio system with MP3 compatibility and optional 6-disc CD changer with 11 speakers, including two subwoofers. StabiliTrak electronic stability system and six standard airbags provide superb safety and peace of mind. With all the top-of-the-line features of the new 2008 G8, Pontiac will be taking the auto industry by storm.
