If you knew your AAA membership could pay for itself, wouldn't you be interested? Today's AAA is not your father's old fashioned automobile club. You'll still travel with peace of mind, knowing that AAA will come to your rescue if you ever get stuck in the middle of nowhere, but AAA has changed with the times to offer you so much more.
You might be surprised at all the new AAA services and the many ways you can save as a AAA member. Get the best deal on that new car you've been considering - show your card and receive discounts on auto repair, restaurants, car rentals, hotels and more. Choose from a wide range of financial services, including money market accounts, IRAs, auto loans and credit cards that can pay you up to 5 percent cash back on fuel purchases. But the king of the hill is the tremendous savings members can enjoy with AAA-sponsored auto insurance.
I switched my auto insurance coverage to the AAA affiliate seven years ago, and I've never looked back. When I received the quote, I called because I thought they must have made a mistake. It was no mistake. My annual premium dropped $633 - an astounding 39 percent for identical coverage! The first year alone, I pocketed enough savings to pay my dues for the next 9 years.
AAA upped the ante a few years ago with their "Member Loyalty Discount" program that saves you even more on top of your low premiums. The member loyalty discount kicks in at 3 percent after your first year as a AAA member, increases by another 2 percent every two years, and tops out at a whopping 20 percent after 20 years.
I've been a loyal member since 1986 and my reward this year was an additional $166 savings on my auto policy and 10 percent off my homeowner policy premium.
Thinking about letting your AAA membership go? You just might want to get a quote on your auto insurance before you do.
