What your car color says about you

By Johan Dahlberg

Did you choose the color of your current car because you thought it looked good? Or are you in the process of finding a new car and want a color that suits your style? Whatever the case, the color of your car reveals a much deeper aspect of you than simply what color you like. Perhaps you like your ride in a nice shade of silver, but do you know why? Here's a list of the most common vehicle colors and what they tell about you:

  • Blue: Blue is one of the most popular car colors. Peace and calm is often associated with blue, but so is productivity and loyalty. This simple yet stylish color show that you are a practical person, but at the same time darker shades of blue may give people the impression of you being too simple or even an uninteresting person.
  • Red: Red is the color of emotion. It's associated with everything from anger and independence to love and passion. It stands out in a crowd which is why it's the color of choice among party people. Especially younger drivers like red, as it portrays them as free and sexy. Beware though, some may consider you as a bit of a show-off.
  • Green: Light forms of green show that you are a calm and respected person. It's a refreshing color symbolizing nature. Additionally, darker shades of green reveal you as a masculine person caring for tradition. Green also implies wealth.
  • Silver: Silver is the color of performance. It shows that your car is a high-performance machine and that you know what you're dealing with. Silver is also a sophisticated and elegant car color, which is why it's a preferred choice among those who want to give a professional impression.
  • Black: Power and authority is what black represents, which is why many government vehicles are black. Even though black is often associated with evil or grieving, for the average car owner it expresses a sense of down-to-earth attitudes and sophisticated power.
  • White: White is commonly associated with innocence and purity, and so is the case when it comes to cars. White is often a sign of wealth and luxury, and perhaps this, combined with the fact that a white car must be cleaned ever so often, is the reason why the average car owner doesn't pick white for their car, while those who can afford washing it 24/7 do.

Besides these individual meanings of colors, the shade of the color in question further reveals the true you. While bright, clear colors spell independence, adventure and youth, darker shades represent a more classic, sophisticated side.
