If left too long, worn brake pads can cause serious damage to the vehicle. Add premixed antifreeze to the radiator reservoir when it gets low. This is vital for the proper protection and cooling of the engine. These simple maintenance tasks can keep your car running smoother, longer.

The Importance of Warranties

The most important thing you should do is make sure that your new high-end car comes with a warranty. You can even opt for an extended warranty - this may cost a bit more but could save you thousands of dollars down the road.

With a warranty, many of the parts on your car are covered for repairs and services. There are a few items that aren't covered, which include tires, brakes and accident damage. A new luxury vehicle typically comes with a five-year warranty or until it reaches 50,000 miles. If you find that your car needs many costly repairs throughout the first couple years, then you may want to consider getting rid of it when the warranty is over.

Without a warranty you'll need to find a mechanic to do the repairs for you, which can be very expensive. Also, many of the parts used in luxury vehicles aren't readily available, which is part of the reason why they're so costly.

If your new car isn't under warranty and needs repairs, then it's best to have it fixed by the dealer rather than the neighborhood mechanic. The service technicians at the dealership are experts who are trained for working on the specific make and model of your car. Furthermore, the dealership will only use replacement parts that have been authorized by the manufacturer.

If your car simply needs new tires, brakes or lights, then it should be safe to get them repaired by other mechanics. You may even be able to do these small repairs at home. However, if your vehicle needs internal or engine repair / parts then you should go directly to the dealer. Never attempt to do complicated repairs yourself unless you've had experience working on high-end vehicles.
