2007 SUVs

Take a look at this years great new SUVs

SUVs still seem to be the vehicles of choice despite the rising gas prices. While overall truck sales have dropped a bit over the years, they are still vastly outselling cars. Take a look at 2007's top five choices for SUVs, divided into five categories: small (less than 184.0 inches), large (184.0 inches or longer), luxury, hybrid and off-road SUVs.

Best small SUV: Toyota RAV4

This year's RAV4 is bigger than in previous model years, but the additional space is put to good use. Passengers in the backseat now have more room, trunk space has increased, and there is also enough space for optional third-row seating. This spacious little SUV has excellent handling and sleek styling, backed with an affordable price. If you're looking for great fuel economy, the RAV4 makes a great city vehicle.

Best large SUV: Honda Pilot

The Honda Pilot has ranked among the top SUVs for over five years running. It still offers its unique combination of value, practicality and efficiency, which has kept Honda lovers coming back for more. The spacious interior with optional third-row seating is packaged in a modest, well-designed exterior. Its 244 hp engine provides excellent performance with decent fuel economy. Best luxury SUV: Mercedes GL450

While big SUVs normally aren't very efficient, the smaller, stylish design of the GL450 proves that Mercedes Benz is able to do more with less. Not only is it smaller than its competitors but it's also lighter, which means that its smaller engine can deliver exceptional performance and better fuel economy. Its smooth, 7-speed automatic must be given some credit for its superb handling and comfortable drive. Like all Mercedes Benz vehicles, the interior is beautifully finished as should be any luxury SUV. If you can afford the base price, then the Mercedes GL450 is definitely the top choice in large SUVs, winning Motor Trend's SUV of the Year award for 2007.
